What is Christie's?
Christie's, the world's oldest fine art auction house, was established in London in 1766 by James Christie. 242 years later, Christie's is the largest and most well respected company of its type in the world. In 2006, total auction sales for Christie's exceeded $4.4 billion. Christie's auctions cover more than 80 categories including: silver, jewelry, photographs, wine, furniture, ceramics, stamps, comic books, and memorabilia, and, of course, fine paintings and sculpture.
Since Christie's has long been renowned for handling the contents of estates, it was logical that the market would look to them to handle the real estate itself.
In 1987, the Great Estates network was founded by Kay Coughlin in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was purchased by Christie's as a wholly owned subsidiary in 1995. Since that time, Christies Great Estates has experienced over 250% growth with 650 offices in 34 countries.

 Horizon Properties is the exclusive Christie's Great Estates affiliate for La Plata, Archeleta, Montezuma, and San Juan counties in Southwest Colorado.
Only those brokers who have met Christie's Great Estates' uncompromising standards for excellent service and consistent achievement are awarded affiliate status. This selection process includes meeting stringent qualifications followed by review and approval of the Advisory Board.
